How to Replace Husqvarna Automower 315X Blades (Step-by-Step)
A 5-minute guide to swapping the cutting blades on a Husqvarna Automower 315X — torque specs, screw size, and how often to change them.

The Husqvarna Automower 315X uses three pivoting razor-style blades held on by Torx T20 screws. Husqvarna recommends swapping all three blades and screws together every 4–6 weeks of mowing — a worn blade tears grass instead of cutting it, which browns the lawn within days.
What you need
- 3 fresh Automower-compatible blades
- 3 new M5 Torx T20 screws (re-using old screws is the #1 cause of mid-mow blade loss)
- A T20 Torx screwdriver
- Gloves — the blades are sharp on one edge
Step-by-step
- Press STOP, lift the cover, and enter your PIN. Power off the mower.
- Flip the mower onto its top on a soft surface (a folded towel is perfect).
- Unscrew each of the three blades. The screws are designed to thread out fully.
- Wipe the cutting disc with a damp cloth — grass clumps unbalance the disc.
- Fit each new blade with a new screw. Tighten to ~1.5 Nm (firm but not gorilla-tight).
- Spin the disc by hand once — blades should pivot freely, not catch.
- Flip the mower back, place on the charging station, done.
How often should you actually change them?
For an average 500–1,000 m² lawn, every 4 weeks during peak growth. Sandy soil, gravel near edges, or pine cones shorten that to 2–3 weeks. If you hear a higher-pitched cutting sound or notice torn grass tips, swap them now — fresh blades draw less current and extend battery life too.
Why we ship new screws with every pack
The pivot screw is the failure point, not the blade. Each cut puts a tiny side-load on the thread; after 4–6 weeks the head has rounded slightly and the clamping force drops. Reusing it risks the blade flying off during cutting. Every Nordic Mow pack ships with matching fresh screws — no separate order needed.
Frequently asked
- Can I sharpen Automower blades instead of replacing them?
- Husqvarna officially says no, and there's a good reason: the disc spins at over 2,000 rpm and the blades are factory-balanced by weight. Sharpening removes uneven material and creates vibration that wears the bearing.
- Are aftermarket blades safe?
- Yes, as long as they match the original blade weight (1.0 g for 315X) and use the correct mounting hole. Nordic Mow blades are weight-matched within ±0.03 g.
- Will changing blades void my warranty?
- No. Husqvarna explicitly lists blade replacement as user-serviceable maintenance.
